80′s Murray Street Machine Bicycle Commercial

80′s commercial for the Street Machine bicycle from Murray. Rather than comment I’ll let the commercial speak for itself.

1956 Murray Super Deluxe Fleetline bike at the 12th. annual Minnesota Antique & Classic Bicycle Club’s swap meet and show in 2003 held at Penn Cycle in Bloomington, Minnesota.

  1. Yep this is the commercial I saw as a kid and thought it was the fastest bike on earth and had to have one. I never did get this bike but I’m now an amature cyclist and compete in races. I think this commercial had an impact on me to say the least.

  2. I love the 80′s ! ! Even have a trapjaw tattoo from Heman. And papa smurf,, but I didn’t love this commercial or the song,,, wana kick his neck off!

  3. I’m pretty sure they were going for a Sting & The Police sound….it’s similar to “Roxanne”.

  4. You know it is an old commercial when you see the store name “Service Merchanise.” Cool commercial, though! Love 80′s Retro stuff!

  5. Thanks for posting this! One of my favorite bikes.

  10. Oh man, I thought this was the coolest thing ever when I was 8.

  11. Holy shit this is old!I remember this ad back in the day just had to get one for Xmas.I think I have a picture of me washing it like it was my car.gotta love the 80s lmfao

  12. Sweet ride!

  13. What the hell was that woman singing about? Damn, that was annoying.. And since the technology sucked in the 80s, I’m not surprised the girl was able the beat the kid in the race when he warped.

  14. imagine some dude in the studio recording that one….probably did say that…ronnie james dio rules..ahaaaahahah

  15. i owned this bike too–i also killed it…cant be many of these around probably worth some bucks now and yes the rear brake was different.

  16. i still have a murray i just fixed it an paint it its cool i had for like 10 years works like a charm

  17. Woooow, that pitch blew my brains out.

  18. I had one that I bought from a friend for $20 which was a great deal. They were about $120 new in around 1987. Took it to school in the 4th grade and it got stolen along with about 20 other bikes from the area they designated to lock the bikes up in.

Over 20 years later I still recall the rear brake was rather fancy for a dept. store bike. It was some kind of enclosed drum brake with 2 cables for more pulling force.

  19. Kona Stinky? why bother, Murray Street machine.

  20. I think I sold these at Cycle Spectrum

  24. To think, I spent of my freakin money on a freeride rig loaded to the gills with long travel suspension and whatnot, when I could have gotten a Street Machine. Damn!

  25. Wow! That kid got like TWO WHOLE FEET OF AIR off that ramp.

  26. very nice!! 6 stars on that bike!! murrays are very overlooked, and underated! the company did a lot for bikes in general, it sucks they went under!
